Eko’s In The Past

Oh My God, They Killed Eko!

Another week, another bombshell. Episode 5 of season 3 of Lost was shown here in the UK on SkyOne on Sunday night and “The Cost Of Living” provided more intrigue from the island. With Jack, Sawyer and Kate incarcerated on the other island (?) the dynamic back at base camp had changed dramatically with Locke taking a lead role and being much more inclusive when it comes to involving everyone, so much so that two additional survivors have been given speaking roles (though at the moment their back story has not been explored and I’m not even sure what their names are). Locke led a group back to the hatch into the Swan base to be confronted on screen by a man with an eye-patch: you can’t beat a baddy with an eye-patch, can you? However, it was up on the surface where the action really took place… rolling away the stone beside the crashed plane, Eko found that it was now devoid of the corpse of the his brother. (Nice religious undertones there, especially when viewed in conjunction with the Nigerian church scenes shown in flashback!). Then the black smoke returned to beat the living daylights out of Mr. Eko to leave him dying in Locke’s arms. And if that wasn’t enough, Jack seems to be descending into Stockholm Syndrome with his captor, Juliet, and they are now plotting together to bump off Ben/Henry… or at least that how it looks on the surface.
