T.V. Week In Review: 2007, Weeks 17 and 18

Lazarus, Back From The Dead

A fortnight has sneaked passed since my last weekly review (if you see what I mean): a fact that kind of destroys the illusion that I am paying enough attention to this website.  To be honest, there have been a few days over the last couple of weeks, when I haven’t even switched the TV on at all, which for most people would be seen as a good thing, so I guess I should count my blessings that I have something of a life away from from my Idiot’s Lantern.  Week 17 (the one that went without a review) was a strange week for the Other Viewer and I with lots of episodes of Desperate Housewives being caught up on… five in six days, if you’re counting!  We even watched a movie and that it is a rarity in itself these days.  However, when all is said and done the highlight of the week for me (and therefore winner of the prestigeous Show of the Week award) is Have I Got News For You that provides chuckles aplenty on a Friday night and, after a gruelling week at work, that is all you can ask for.

Week 18 saw the return of Hustle, brilliant previously, back for a fourth series but, without Mickey at the helm, it seemed to lack a little something.  We also got to see David Suchet in Maxwell a one-off, 90-minute drama reconstructing the last months of Robert Maxwell’s life, where a marvellous cast lifted a slightly underwhelming story.  I am staying spoiler free for the end of BSG and I now find myself just two episodes from the end of the series after catching up with Maelstrom and The Son Also Rises.  However, the time has come to award the SotW trophy to Doctor Who because the Laxarus Experiment was one of my favourite episodes to date (review, of course, to follow).
