Okay, so this is nothing to do with television at all but it’s my blog and I’ll do what I like with it (and if you get to the end you may just learn something).

I was listening to BBC Radio 5Live this morning, when this story was told, in which a judge in New Zealand made a nine-year-old child a ward of court, so that her name could be changed to something more reasonable than the one that her parents thought it appropriate to give her.  Her name: Talulah Does The Hula From Hawaii. The most fun part of the tale, also reported on the BBC (and all over the blogosphere as well, I imagine) were the other names that either had or had not made it past the NZ Registrar General. On the approved list were Violence; Number 16 Bus Shelter; Midnight Chardonnay; Benson and Hedges (twins), while on the list that were not allowed were Yeah Detroit; Stallion; Twisty Poi; Keenan Got Lucy; Sex Fruit; Fat Boy; Cinderella Beauty Blossom; Fish and Chips (twins). I have no idea what differentiates the successfull candidates from the ones that were barred but is it just me or does anyone else really like the name Midnight Chardonnay?

I can’t think of anyone I know with really unusual names, although The Other Viewer, who teaches for a living, once had sisters in her class called Blue and Denim.  I’m often asked about my internet moniker, Fazzinchi.  This comes from a combination of my primary school nickname (Fazz) and the place where I live (CHIchester), hence I am Fazz-in-Chi.  I just knew you were wondering.
