So Say We All

Here’s another show that I should have been blogging about a bit more often. Caprica is the much talked about prequel to Battlestar Galctica and it is quite brilliant. If you like your sci-fi as cold, hard-edged, futuristic “noir” then this is indeed the show for you. Looking glorious in high-definition on Sky, it tells the tale of the birth of the Cylons through the eyes of two significant but troubled familes. Mixing contemporary themes of terrorism, virtual reality, religeous extremism, and corporate corruption, the show weaves a tale of wonderful complexity and intrigue with good thriller writing. The fact we know the outcome of events (on the wider scale at any rate) actually works as a benefit to the viewer despite the logical conclusion being that knowing the outcome is in someway detrimental. I heartily recommend that you catch up with this if at all possible.

There Must Be Some Way Out of Here

(SPOILERS follow)

So, the much lauded Battlestar Galactica, or BSG to its friends, finally reached its big old climax for Sky One viewers last night ending a few days of self-imposed internet spoiler avoidance between the US broadcast and yesterday’s UK premiere. I’m not sure what I was expecting but there was some satisfaction to be gleaned from the

Is Battlestar Galactica the best show on TV?

There weren’t too many gags or one-liners in BSG’s fourth/fifth season opener “Sometimes a Great Notion” and the only moment where someone cracked a smile was about 5 minutes before she blew her own brains out. Yes, folks, arguably the best show on telly in recent years, if you like your tally dark and moody, is back for its (almost) final 10 eps. The “almost” being the fact that another made-for-TV movie is coming up and also that stories set in this universe are set to continue when spin-off,

4×01/2: He That Believeth In Me and Six of One

I have been tending to focus on things Who-related of late (although I never mentioned Torchwood during its recently concluded second series at all) but the remit of this blog is pretty much anything I see on telly and one import that is just as much a fixture of my weekly viewing is Battlestar Galactica. The relaunch of BSG happened at about the same time as Doctor Who and both have just begun their fourth series since coming back. However, while I am sure there are people

Christmas Review #9 of 12

Nothing says Christmas quite like the traumatic aftermath of the Cylon holocaust.  Okay, so it’s not exactly a festive special but “Battlestar Galactica: Razor” debuted in the UK on Sky in December and therefore it makes the list on Fazzinchi’s Christmas dozen.  It served to give us a taster for the forthcoming final season of this most excellent series although it acted as a standalone story.  “Razor” told the tale of Kendra Shaw who was the self-styled living legacy of Admiral Cain

Who’s Snarling Now?

Hot on the heels of the news that Lost is to run for just three more, 16-episode series, I now hear on the grapevine that the fourth series of Battlestar Galactica is to be the last. While my initial reaction was one of abject dispondancy, I have now had time to reflect about this and can feel compelled to conclude that this is probably “a good thing”. “Heresy!”, I hear you cry! Well, not quite. Having seen the series finale of three last week I can only feel even more encouraged that the
