Cricket World Cup a
Reach For The Stars

The Cricket World Cup came alive this week as the Super 8 stages of the tournament came to a close. Up until now it has meandered along with some uninspring and one-sided encounters usually involving Australia dismissing all before them with an unstoppable flourish. However, in a thoroughly irrelevant match because both sides had already been eliminated, between West Indies and England, we got to see 600 runs, 19 wickets and a near-as you can get to a last ball finish. If the whole competition had been just half this good it would (more…)

Life on Mars l

Ashes to Ashes?

Here we are again, another week of viewing draws to a close and there were loads of goodies on offer. The highlight of them all must have been the conclusion to Life on Mars that I wrote about earlier in the week. As a previous winner of the prestigious Show-Of-The-Week award, it is, of course, exempt from winning again but I am sorely tempted to re-write the rules to allow LoM an unprecidented second win. Elsewhere we saw the return of Paul Whitehouse and Harry Enfield in a (more…)

Prison Break 2 b

You Keep Me Hangin On The Telephone

The end of the first three months of 2007’s televisual viewing options saw (in case you hadn’t noticed round here!) the return of the nation’s favourite Time Lord.  In anticipation of this event, in a now annual two weeks of channel hopping I try to watch and record appearances, interviews and trailers for my Doctor Who extras DVD.  As I result I find myself in the unusual situation of watching a whole host of TV programmes I wouldn’t normally dream of tuning in for.  Take Richard and Judy (more…)

I’m Not In The Mood For Dancing

Week 12, where does the time go? We’re almost a quarter of the way through the year and I’ve managed to maintain this diary all the while. It doesn’t include the snippets of TV (such as the varius 20/30 minute dips into the Cricket World Cup that have been frequently interrupting my viewing over the last weeks) nor the channel hopping to which I find myself drawn and I can’t be bothered recording all the news programmes and the like, but the rest of it is here and saved for (more…)

Twenty Four6 a
Morris Hits Hides The Bottle

There is something wierd about 24 this season. We have now seen up to 5pm (after kicking off Series Six at 7am) and I’m starting to get the distinct impression that I’ve seen it all before.  Jack is alternating between following the rules and going completely off piste, inside CTU there is much back-stabbing and people being vaguely ridiculous as the lie and cheat to their bosses while trying to save the world, the president is off letting any old Tom, Dick or Unabomber into the (more…)

Prison Break2 a

And Another One Bites The Dust

I have to confess that it was something of a shock to see Tweener so brutally killed by Agent Mahone in the latest installment of Prison Break. The guy seemed to be unlucky in the extreme… he stole a baseball card collection but when it turned out to be a hugely valuable one, he was convicted of grand larceny and sent to Fox River. On his escape he met up with Debra and seemed to be genuinely attracted to her, only for that to fall apart when the police got too close. It was (more…)
