Holding Out For a Hero

A trip to the cinema (”Hot Fuzz”) for the first time in about the space of a year for the Other Viewer and I this week, along with sitting down to watch a sci-fi movie classic (”Fifth Element) made me once again consider expanding the remit of Fazzinchi.co.uk to include an occasional series of reviews of non-TV related entertainment such as movies, books, and very occasional theatre trips.  Still debating the concept at the moment though.  Back on the box, it was another entertaining

More Desperate Than Usual

Well, England winning the Commonwealth Bank Cricket tournament after having odds way outside of “100-1 against” just two weeks ago was probably the most surprising thing I’ve seen on TV in ages and it was certainly a highlight of the week for me.  In typical England supporter mode, I now find myself being ridiculously optimistic about the forthcoming World Cup and, if they win that, I may even grant them my prestigious “Show-Of-The-Week” award… but not this time.  I have also

Not…. The Family

So, we’re getting to meet more of Jack’s family now. It’s generally a sign that the people behind the camera are running out of ideas when we have to be burdened with various bloodties of the main characters to string out the stories a little and add a little more angst to proceedings… as if thwarting conspiracies, overthrowing presidents and preventing global catastophes wasn’t enough to contend with.  Anyway, here we are, six hours in to day six and we’re re-introduced to the

Five Days A Week

January is done and dusted and so is Week Five of the viewing year. Shows aplenty were on course to be watched but a unforseen problem meant that viewing was somewhat limited. Regardless of this though, there was enough on offer to keep me occupied. The week began with a four-episode binge of Five Days (proof that “Great drama from the BBC” is not just a cathphrase) and a couple of installments of Waking The Dead. The week ended with yet another double header of

Whoops, Apocalypse!

Okay, so Stephen Merchant isn’t playing any further role in 24… much to my disappointment. It was only a cameo after all. However, it’s still worth tuning in to the adventures of Jack and his ticking clock, if it’s OTT death and destruction that floats your boat.  It was another double-header week on SkyOne as they tried to catch up with the US broadcasts to encourage folk to stop downloading it with their current favourite BitTorrent supplier.  Hour three (8:00am to 9:00am) was

Car Crash TV (headline shamelessly stolen from Radio Times)

A week in which the paucity of my viewing from Monday to Saturday was more than made up for in a Sunday marathon of shows that culminated in a nuclear device being exploded in Los Angeles… and I thought I was going to have nothing to write about. The fourth week of 2007 saw me enjoy (for want of a better word) a couple of cup ties in the football and catch up with some old stuff that has been sitting idle for a while (This Life +10 and a couple of documentaries,
