Would You Jump For Joy?

Well, despite the unseasonal weather that usually manages to keep folk indoors and works wonders for viewing figures, I have been (once again) extremely remiss when it comes to keeping up with the TV schedules.  This week there was plenty of opportunity to see highlights of the almost-annual mudfest known as Glastonbury.  The Arctic Monkeys headlined on Friday night and were quite marvellous (especially their Diamonds Are Forever cover) and the Fratellis were pretty good

It is not often that I write about music because this is, after all, a blog about TV.  At least it should be about TV: recently there has been a paucity of content about which I’m still feeling guilty mainly due to the realisation that my New Year resolution (to write here at least 20 times a month) was cruelly curtailed when April resulted in only 19 posts.  Anyway, last night I stayed up to watch an installment of Later… with Jools Holland, which is a not a show I generally go out of my way

Outstanding

Given what happened the last time they broadcast the Brits live (and you can no doubt search for yourself on YouTube for the gory lowlights of Mick Fleetwood, Sam Fox et al) someone clearly made a brave decision to take the event back to being a real-time event and showing it at a pre-watershed of 8pm on Wednesday.  However, given the exception of a few near-the-knuckle comments from Russell Brand, it was all fairly docile.  Russell was his usual self and, although I thought
