4×01/2: He That Believeth In Me and Six of One

I have been tending to focus on things Who-related of late (although I never mentioned Torchwood during its recently concluded second series at all) but the remit of this blog is pretty much anything I see on telly and one import that is just as much a fixture of my weekly viewing is Battlestar Galactica. The relaunch of BSG happened at about the same time as Doctor Who and both have just begun their fourth series since coming back. However, while I am sure there are people (more…)

It Looks Like We Might Have Made It

Another year gone and, while it may not be going strong, this old blog is, at least, still going and here is the first post of the year. It is a time for looking back, looking forward and making resolutions and so, I’ll start by looking back. 2007 began with some commitments that held me in good stead for a few months before succumbing to inevitable fatigue. The “Diary of an Addict” was a good record of viewing habits for the first nine months of the year with Doctor Who, Lost, Battlestar (more…)

Who’s Snarling Now?

Hot on the heels of the news that Lost is to run for just three more, 16-episode series, I now hear on the grapevine that the fourth series of Battlestar Galactica is to be the last. While my initial reaction was one of abject dispondancy, I have now had time to reflect about this and can feel compelled to conclude that this is probably “a good thing”. “Heresy!”, I hear you cry! Well, not quite. Having seen the series finale of three last week I can only feel even more encouraged that the (more…)

Guilty or Not Guilty

There was only one programme worthy of winning the highly sought Show of the Week award this time around.  The two-part series finale of Battletstar Galactica was a scorcher.  The conclusion of Gaius Baltar’s trial was handled brilliantly and a slightly unusual use of “All Along The Watchtower” led to the revealing of four of the five final Cylons.  However, Even that couldn’t prepare you for the conclusion.  A full, spoiler laden review will follow.  Elsewhere, Saturday night was notable (more…)

Lazarus, Back From The Dead

A fortnight has sneaked passed since my last weekly review (if you see what I mean): a fact that kind of destroys the illusion that I am paying enough attention to this website.  To be honest, there have been a few days over the last couple of weeks, when I haven’t even switched the TV on at all, which for most people would be seen as a good thing, so I guess I should count my blessings that I have something of a life away from from my Idiot’s Lantern.  Week 17 (the one that went (more…)

Taking A Break From All Your Worries

Okay, we need to catch up a little here. March 13th was the last time that Fazzinchi.co.uk featured a review of Battlestar Galactica, at which time I was talking about “The Passage”, so it’s high time we put that right. The Other Viewer and I have managed to watch five further installments over the last few weeks in an endeavour to get up to speed with the tale. I have found that the pace has started to drop off and in its stead has come a build up in the inner mythology of the show. However, rather than the predictable descent into (more…)
