Top Gear d

Living On The Edge

“I’ve got 10,000 horse power and possibly the biggest accident you’ve ever seen in your life” - Richard Hammond, a few minutes before the biggest accident I’ve ever seen in my life.

It is quite something to have a show about cars watched by 100 million people worldwide, but that is what the BBC have on their hands in Top Gear.  It is also quite something to have a show about cars that goes up in the schedules against (more…)

This Life3

Retrospective Review #5 of 5

This Life +10 has been sat on the “to-do” list for about 4 weeks since its debut on the 2nd January. I’m not very good at avoiding spoilers, so I found myself reading the reviews before I had actually seen the show and, unfortunately, in this case it got a general panning from most people, hence the fact that it had gone so long unwatched. Struggling for space on the hard drive yesterday afternoon, I decided to give it a 10-minute test (*) before deletion and I was surprised to find (more…)

Gerry Robinson

Stating The Bleedin’ Obvious

Can Gerry Robinson Fix The NHS? On the basis of this show, somebody can, surely. This fantastic documentary shown on three consecutive nights last week posed some excellent questions to the powers-that-be, to the extent that the show itself made the news. Now, I have to confess (and viewers of my TV Viewing diary will know already) that I have only watched episode “1″ so far, but “2″ and “3″ are on the Sky Planner and waiting for a suitable evening and a stiff drink for (more…)

Christmas Review #7 of 12

This past New Year celebration was one of those events where the best laid plans just didn’t come to fruition.  We were planning on heading out to a local drinking establishment for an evening of posh frocks, tuxedos and too much bubbly but the excesses of the previous weeks and a fairly horrendous weather forecast led us to a last minute change of heart.  The Other Viewer and I battoned down the hatches, cracked open a few bottles of vino and had a night in front of the box. It’s Just Not Cricket

I was flicking between channels at the weekend and caught a little of the UK Snooker Championships on BBC2, well, about ten minutes if I’m honest.  I fell out of love with snooker many years ago (much the same as many people it would seem) and I now barely keep an eye on any of the tournaments or results.  It’s odd to think that this was such a popular television sport here in the UK so (relatively) recently but I guess, as the pace of televsision in general has quickened then (more…)
