Christmas Ain’t Coming Any More

You really don’t need me to tell you what to be watching on Christmas Day, do you? Doctor Who, Gavin and Stacey and find yourself a good DVD or two. Job done.

If you’re a regular reader of this blog, I’d just like to take the opportunity to wish each and every one of you, all the very best for the season. Your support is much appreciated.

Here’s Looking At You

Well, Pick of the Day, according to the RT at least, for the “so-close-you-can-smell-Christmas” 23rd of December is the somewhat unfestive Spooks series 8 finale. I am still a few episodes behind in this run but I will be doing what I can in the work-free days that approach to rectify that. So far, the budget cuts have not really dampened by enjoyment of the show although the Section D offices do look rather pokier than usual. Over on C4 at 10pm, there is the finale (in case you missed it first time round on digital or even on DVD) of True Blood. Again, it’s another show that I can’t quite get in to but probably need to sit down

Blackadder Rides Again a

Christmas 2008 has been consigned to the history books and with it the festive fortnight of strange and delightful television schedules have concluded. I have to confess that I didn’t watch a great deal of the stuff over the last two weeks but now, as the bumper edition of the Radio Times heads off to the nearest recycling plant, I feel it is time to look back at my personal choices of shows that were blessed by the highlighter pen here at Chez Fazzinchi.  Not that  there were too many but here are the few bits and pieces that I sat down to enjoy with varying degrees of success.

Christmas Review #1 of 12

They are peculiar things, traditions. As I said in the previous post, this is the second year that fazzinchi.co.uk has run a series of twelve Christmas telly reviews and that, in my mind makes it a tradition. “Voyage of the Damned” as if you didn’t know was this year’s Doctor Who Christmas Special and was the third one that this production team have created for our Christmas viewing pleasure, following The Runaway Bride in 2006 and The Christmas Invasion the year before that.  So, if

It Looks Like We Might Have Made It

Another year gone and, while it may not be going strong, this old blog is, at least, still going and here is the first post of the year. It is a time for looking back, looking forward and making resolutions and so, I’ll start by looking back. 2007 began with some commitments that held me in good stead for a few months before succumbing to inevitable fatigue. The “Diary of an Addict” was a good record of viewing habits for the first nine months of the year with Doctor Who, Lost, Battlestar

Radio Times

Highlighter Pen at The Ready

It continues to amuse me that the greatest weekly magazine that the UK produces continues to be called the Radio Times despite the fact that almost nobody uses it for looking forward to radio listings but instead plan their TV viewing for the forthcoming week. And, of the 51 issues that get released every year, it is the “legendary” (their own word) double-sized Christmas issue that makes for the greatest read. So, for this post, with the trusty tome by my side, I will provide my own
