How Was That For You?

The second test between England and New Zealand looked odds on to be another tale of woe to add to England’s back catalogue of miserable recent history. Facing a first innings deficit of 179 runs (after a woeful batting display yesterday morning) seemed to be an insurmountable task but some inspiration from the man they call “Monty” and a miraculously rejuvenated batting display meant that England made the victory target

General Grievous?

  • The England cricket team: Why do they bother? Grievous Bodily Harmison needs a new nickname… something related to puppy dogs I should think. Just when it looked like Sidebottom could salvage something from the wreckage of the first test of the New Zealand tour at Hamilton, we conspire to collpase spectacularly (again). I’m just happy, like the England team apparently, to have been asleep through most of it.

House At Home

Another week over and a pretty quiet week it was too. Managed to finally get to the end of the third series of House, which ended with a cracking few episodes: Hugh Laurie on top form as his team dissappear from around him. Mainly the week was notable for the three ODI international, previously mentioned, that I watched (well, two matches and highlights show). Most disappointing was the dramatic downturn in the quality of the IT Crowd, the first episode of the second series

274 Years To Go

Week 34 presented me with an opportunity to watch a new installment of an old favourite of mine as I dusted off the copy of Babylon 5: The Lost Tales that I had brought back with me from my recent (and much mentioned) holiday to the States. My expectations were low (a straight to DVD movie, years after the original series had finished, did not bode well) but, you’ll be pleased to hear, expectations were exceeded… but only just. A full review will follow soon. The rest of the week

Life On Marr

Anyone watching TV this week would know that the biggest talking point was Emily being thrown out of the BB House for using a racially offensive word. Channel 4, after showing the incident in full received over a thousand complaints, almost all of which were from people complaining about the eviction rather than the use of the word. Love it or hate it but there is undeniable benefit in putting debates such as this in the public spotlight and even if only a few people take a look at

Smithster and Gavster

Week 20, and I must confess that it is proving quite a challenge to keep my viewing diary up-to-date. You may have noticed, faithful reader, that I am not here every day to update the lists of the shows that I’ve been watching. It is a fact that I shall attempt to rectify since it’s not like I’m ever away from a computer but it’s a fact nonetheless. So, when it comes to trying to recall the programmes that I have been watching over the last four or five days I find myself
