Staying In Is The New Going Out

It’s been a quiet few days here at Fazzinchi Towers, so apologies for the lack of updates.  I have about five posts that I’ve started but have yet to finish, plus the tenth and final installment of the Series One Retrospective for “Bad Wolf/Parting Of The Ways” and, inevitably, the review of “Daleks In Manhatten” that will be shown tonight.  Plenty in the pipeline then.  Meanwhile, The Other Viewer and I had one of those lazy Friday nights on the sofa yesterday and there was a fair amount (more…)

Life on Mars l

Ashes to Ashes?

Here we are again, another week of viewing draws to a close and there were loads of goodies on offer. The highlight of them all must have been the conclusion to Life on Mars that I wrote about earlier in the week. As a previous winner of the prestigious Show-Of-The-Week award, it is, of course, exempt from winning again but I am sorely tempted to re-write the rules to allow LoM an unprecidented second win. Elsewhere we saw the return of Paul Whitehouse and Harry Enfield in a (more…)

Apprentice b

I know she’s not in the new series, but she was genius in the Comic Relief special

April is upon us, Spring has sprung and the weather looks distinctly better outside.  Somehow this has led to a certain lack on television watching lately.  The Other Viewer and I are currently being mocked by our Sky+ Planner which has five episodes of Desperate Housewives and four of Battlestar Galactica on the first page.  We will get around to them soon and an appropriate monster sized catch up post soon.  A week’s vacation this week might be just what the Doctor ordered.  In (more…)

I’m Not In The Mood For Dancing

Week 12, where does the time go? We’re almost a quarter of the way through the year and I’ve managed to maintain this diary all the while. It doesn’t include the snippets of TV (such as the varius 20/30 minute dips into the Cricket World Cup that have been frequently interrupting my viewing over the last weeks) nor the channel hopping to which I find myself drawn and I can’t be bothered recording all the news programmes and the like, but the rest of it is here and saved for (more…)

You’re Not Fired

Week 11 saw the return to our screens of the Comic Relief appeal.  It’s usually a bit hit or miss but I really enjoyed it this year.  Ant ‘n’ Dec’s report from Kenya was really nicely done, one of the most moving of the reports of the night.  The sketches were funny with the new Peter Kay video causing much pausing, rewinding and peering into the audience.  Ff course, the Tony Blair and Lauren sketch was hilarious and, considering it was all set to be an absolute PR disaster for our (more…)

Lost and Found

My experiences of the last seven days have been dominated by sport and Doctor Who. The latter in aid of the retrospective series of blog posts looking back at the 2005 series and in anticipation of the forthcoming third series. The former has been a veritable deluge of soccer, helped in no small part by the fact that my team’s last three matches have all been shown live and seen an accumulation of 19 goals, which is no bad return. The sporting theme is set to continue as (more…)
