One For The Future 

Another quality drama from ITV came along last week in the guise of Instinct, which starred the really rather good (and worthy of noting for future reference), Anthony Flanagan.  He has already played parts in Cracker, Life On Mars and Vincent but I hope he gets to spread his wings away from gritty crime drama soon.  The main conceit of this tale was that Flanagan’s character, DCI Thomas Flynn, was a bit of a wunderkid who had an uncanny capability to assess information and (more…)

Holding Out For a Hero

A trip to the cinema (”Hot Fuzz”) for the first time in about the space of a year for the Other Viewer and I this week, along with sitting down to watch a sci-fi movie classic (”Fifth Element) made me once again consider expanding the remit of Fazzinchi.co.uk to include an occasional series of reviews of non-TV related entertainment such as movies, books, and very occasional theatre trips.  Still debating the concept at the moment though.  Back on the box, it was another entertaining (more…)

Where For Art Thou? 

I vowed (to myself) that there would never be a tie for Fazzinchi’s prestigeous Show-Of-The-Week award.  A vow that I am so tempted to break right about now.  Vying for top spot is clearly Life on Mars, which returned to our screens after what has seemed like an eternity and it has thankfully lost none of its charm.  Lots of other good stuff has abounded for those of us who like our drama without the soap suds, so much so that the new series of Lewis had to go unrecorded and (more…)

I was a little disappointed to hear that season two of Life On Mars is to be the last, a mere 16 episodes doesn’t seem like quite enough to satisfy the palette when it comes to this unusual cop drama. If internet rumours are to be believed there may well be the opportunity to enjoy the US re-make (if “enjoy” is the right word) or even look forward the much suspected sequel/spin-off called Ashes To Ashes (to keep the Bowie theme alive) that will be set in the eighties.
