Christmas Review #9 of 12

Nothing says Christmas quite like the traumatic aftermath of the Cylon holocaust.  Okay, so it’s not exactly a festive special but “Battlestar Galactica: Razor” debuted in the UK on Sky in December and therefore it makes the list on Fazzinchi’s Christmas dozen.  It served to give us a taster for the forthcoming final season of this most excellent series although it acted as a standalone story.  “Razor” told the tale of Kendra Shaw who was the self-styled living legacy of Admiral Cain (more…)

Journeyman c

Are Things Looking Up for Journeyman?

Journeyman is a new sci-fi (ish) import that has been snapped up by Sky. (As an early tangent from this post, I also noticed an advert for the Bionic Woman showed up on ITV2, which is an odd choice. Surely ITV1 would be more appropriate?). Anyway, Journeyman, for all intents and purposes is a modern remake of Quantum Leap, a similarity that one cannot fail to point out when writing a review.   Both feature a man that goes back in time to right wrongs that are happening to people (more…)

I Really Liked This Screencap (… just thought I’d share that!)

I caught up with the latest two episodes of Battlestar Galactica last night, well, the latest two shown in the UK (with appropriate apologies to the dishless masses) and it was a surprisingly mixed bag on offer.  We began with “Unfinished Business” that was an episode based around a boxing tournament on the Galactica that included Lost-style flashbacks to a time on New Caprica before the Cylons found the colony.  However, boxing doesn’t really do it for me and I found the (more…)

Row, Row, Row Your Boat

Lost returned to our screens last weekend as the replacement for the second half of the 24 double-headers that have been enthralling us on SkyOne, which has now resulted in unmissable TV on Sunday nights for the next 18 weeks or so.  Conflicts with Lewis on ITV and Waking The Dead on BBC1 are starting to make me feel that the next Sky box that is released really needs 3 or 4 tuners inside it rather than just two.  On screen, we were back on the little island, nicknamed (more…)

Collaboration Is Bad

They’re all back on Galactica with the remnants of the fleet in tow, fleeing the cylons and struggling to survive. So, have the producers reset the clock on Battlestar Galactica? Far from it. The backlash from the occupation of New Caprica has begun in the episode “Collaborators”, during which President Tom Zareck appointed a vigilante group known as The Circle to act as judge, jury and executioner of the humans who had worked with the Cylons during the months on the planet. Not…. The Family

So, we’re getting to meet more of Jack’s family now. It’s generally a sign that the people behind the camera are running out of ideas when we have to be burdened with various bloodties of the main characters to string out the stories a little and add a little more angst to proceedings… as if thwarting conspiracies, overthrowing presidents and preventing global catastophes wasn’t enough to contend with.  Anyway, here we are, six hours in to day six and we’re re-introduced to the (more…)
