Five Days A Week

January is done and dusted and so is Week Five of the viewing year. Shows aplenty were on course to be watched but a unforseen problem meant that viewing was somewhat limited. Regardless of this though, there was enough on offer to keep me occupied. The week began with a four-episode binge of Five Days (proof that “Great drama from the BBC” is not just a cathphrase) and a couple of installments of Waking The Dead. A week in which the paucity of my viewing from Monday to Saturday was more than made up for in a Sunday marathon of shows that culminated in a nuclear device being exploded in Los Angeles… and I thought I was going to have nothing to write about. Another week passes by and some good things were on offer to the common or garden couch-potato despite the fact that I had a couple of TV-free days. Waking the Dead continued strongly but is now going up against ITV’s remarkably similar sounding Trial and Retirbution, take your pick but I’m sticking with the former. I also had a chance to catch up with some older stuff from the Sky Planner and so have finally seen the end of The State Within (woo-hoo!). A couple of repeats (more…)

TV Week In Review: 2007, Week 1

In these days of PVRs and DVD box-sets it’s difficult to know whether the shows one person watches are the same as the shows other folk are viewing.  For example, I’m still catching up on the last few installments of The State Within, which are about a month old and I even have a whole bunch of Firefly left to enjoy on DVD that I’ve been meaning to watch for the best part of two years.  And as we move towards a world (more…)
